Dubai Welcomes 17Pc More International Visitors in 2023… In Q1 of 2023, Dubai experienced its most successful performance since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, welcoming over International visitors amounting to 4.67 million.
This represents a year-on-year growth of 17%, putting the city well on its way to claiming the title of the world’s most visited international destination.

According to Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the emirate has established itself as the leading global tourism destination.
On Monday, Sheikh Hamdan took to Twitter to declare that “This accomplishment is proof of the successful implementation of the D33 Agenda’s progressive strategy.
He also mentioned that Dubai’s strong economy is playing a leading role in the recovery of the global tourism sector”.
The Dubai Economic Agenda, also known as D33, has set out an ambitious plan to double the size to strengthen the emirate’s economy over the next decade and establish its place as one of the top three cities globally.
Dubai has been identified as the world’s quickest recovering tourist destination, with the latest industry figures indicating that the city achieved 98% of pre-pandemic levels in Q1 2023. (Dubai Welcomes 17Pc More International Visitors in 2023).
This announcement was made during the ongoing 30th edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM).
The numbers exceeded the UN World Trade Organisation’s forecast that international tourist arrivals for this year could reach anywhere between 80% to 95% of pre-pandemic levels.
According to Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed,
“This impressive accomplishment is a direct result of the visionary leadership’s ambitious plans to establish Dubai as one of the world’s fastest-growing metropolises, as well as the leading destination for travel, talent, entrepreneurship, and investment.
“Dubai’s tourism sector serves as both the cornerstone of its economy and an essential contributor to its unique position in the world as a hub that connects markets, cultures, and regions.
Looking forward, Dubai intends to introduce innovative initiatives that will provide a unique value proposition for visitors and achieve its goal of becoming the world’s ultimate destination for living, visiting, working, and investing.”
Impressive Recovery
Dubai received a significant number of visitors in Q1 2023, missing the pre-pandemic level by only two percentage points, with 4.75 million tourists arriving in the emirate during the first quarter of 2019.

The GCC and MENA regions combined accounted for 29% of total arrivals.
Western Europe represented 22 percent of arrivals, while South Asia and CIS and Eastern Europe accounted for 16 percent and 15 percent respectively.
The Americans comprised 7 percent of arrivals, followed by North Asia and Southeast Asia at 6 percent, Africa at 4 percent, and Australasia at 1 percent.
Tourism volumes in most regions exhibited a significant increase during Q1 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. Notably, four regions, including CIS and Eastern Europe, have fully recovered and surpassed Q1 2019 levels.
South Asia and Western Europe are also approaching pre-pandemic levels in terms of tourism volumes.
According to Helal Saeed Almarri, director-general of DET, Dubai will continue to prioritize its global appeal as a preferred travel destination by implementing a multifaceted strategy that has led to success in 2022.
This approach involves enhancing the destination promise, utilizing a multi-geographic approach to markets, constant global outreach through campaigns, hosting a variety of international MICE, business, and leisure events, and building better stakeholder relationships.
In addition, this year is designated as the UAE’s
“Year of Sustainability,”
with a focus on sustainable practices being integrated into every aspect of the visitor experience as the city prepares to host COP28, the UN Climate Change Conference & Dubai Welcomes 17Pc More International Visitors in 2023.
